GulfLive.com: FROM JACKSON CO. TO U.S. CHAMBER: You don't understand the issue
Op-Ed, 9/25/10
Excerpt from letter to the U.S. Chamber by Morris Strickland, chairman of the board of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, and Carla G. Todd, its president and CEO.
“At the monthly meeting of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors in Pascagoula, Miss., we agreed unanimously to send you a letter expressing our concern over your recent opposition to House Resolution 1264, the "Multiple Peril Insurance Act."… We regret that in doing your due diligence for your position on this bill, you did not call the Gulf region Chambers of Commerce that were at the center of Katrina… We implore the U.S. Chamber to take another look at the multiple-peril issue. Please don't be quick to seal the fate of thousands of citizens that live in the Southeast.”
